Purpose:To publish a bi-yearly (or semesterly) collection of student and alumni writings in a physical and virtual literary periodical titled: The Alphabet.
It will be a self-run publication. We asking for submissions of writing, in any form it may exist (poems, short stories, essays, thoughts, etc) which may be accompanied by a single image of your copyright.
The publication includes work from Cooper Union students, professors, staff and alumn; encompassing Cooper Union in a medium that can be distinguished from our own labels (ARTIST, ARCHITECT, ENGINEER). Through words, we can speak our selves and become the whole.
Contribution:We want to give an outlet for the three schools to speak concurrently in a single publication. Reminding us that in the end we are all communicating through words.
We believe this publication will fill a void which we see in The Cooper Union community.
We published the first volume last semester and had more than ten contributions from the three schools and had both students, professors and alumni represented. We hope to print work submitted from the staff in the upcoming editions.
The volume was distributed and even archived by The Cooper Union Library.
