Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)
The purpose of BMES--previously Bioengineering Student Association is to serve as an assembly of students who are interested in bioengineering, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering. Although there are a number of students who are interested in bioengineering and related field, they usually do not get to find opportunities to learn more about it because Cooper Union does not have a biology department or relevant programs. Our club will be a platform for the students where they can share information, find project teammates, and learn from each other. Starting from iGEM competition, we are going to continue participating in various research opportunities and conferences.
BMES will be a solution for students who wanted more information and connection. They will be able to participate in bioengineering events, such as iGEM. Through meeting friends and upperclassmen who have same interest, students will be able to share information, find teammates, exchange advice, etc. Also through communicating our research projects, we can motivate other students, and simultaneously inspire students from other disciplines.
